In the following paragraphs, we will discuss chassis numbers in general and focus on the case of Mercedes vehicles produced at the Woerth plant in Germany. The chassis number, also known as the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), is a unique alphanumeric code assigned to motor vehicles since 1954. It is essentially the vehicle&#039;s DNA, as no two vehicles can have the same chassis number, regardless of where they were manufactured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This number appears at least twice on each vehicle: \u201cCold stamped on the chassis.\u201d Generally, for all trucks from the EU, this is located on the chassis, below the cab on the passenger side. Manufacturer&#039;s plate: The manufacturer&#039;s plate is also usually present on the passenger-side door (as is the case for trucks from the EU). With the frequent cab replacements due to accidents, this second location would not be the best place to confirm a chassis number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kasparts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/20046863_1908247036166646_6089969599222193927_n-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kasparts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/20046863_1908247036166646_6089969599222193927_n-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12138\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> For electronic trucks, by connecting a diagnostic tool, it&#039;s also possible to obtain the truck&#039;s exact chassis number, which you can compare to the one on the chassis or the manufacturer&#039;s plate. While the chassis numbers of Mercedes produced in Woerth (Germany) begin with WDB, those of Renault trucks begin with VF, those of MAN trucks with WMA, DAF trucks with XLR, Iveco trucks with WJM, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will focus on the case of Mercedes-Benz trucks, primarily the Actros, which is our flagship brand and the truck we trust. These days, a Mercedes truck&#039;s chassis number has 17 alphanumeric characters. The first attached image provides some interesting details on the interpretation of the chassis number: WDB 934.042 1 L 115548. Carefully review the explanations on this document and tell us in the comments what type of truck it is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we understand, since the chassis number is unique, we can use it to determine the original part number for each component on the truck.
